New Thulium Fraxel Laser to be Unveiled September

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

fraxel-logoThe laser and skin tightening experts at Solta Medical made an important announcement August 26th regarding their line of Fraxel aesthetic laser systems: a new addition – the Fraxel Restore Dual – will be introduced to physicians around the United States and Europe this fall.

The new device is equipped with a unique 1927 nm wavelength Thulium laser that offers a few notable improvements that will benefit both patients and physicians.

Those who have been able to test drive the new laser say it offers excellent versatility and greater ease of use when treating body areas broader than the face. Some of the reported features are as follows:

  • One laser system – Dual fiber technology
  • Thulium laser provides quick removal of undesirable pigmentation
  • Improved comfort and easier operation
  • “Focal cooling” built into the handpiece
  • Procedure speed may increase by 25 percent

Solta Medical will bring the new laser system to physicians this fall during the Fraxel illumiNATION tour (It’s not a rock concert – but there will be lasers!) To inquire about Fraxel laser skin resurfacing in Bellevue and Maple Valley, call Dr. Stacy’s office.

Come Visit Dr. Stacy Cosmetic This Summer!

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Isn’t summer in Seattle lovely?  We think so. While you’re at the pool, the beach, the golf course, or that barbeque with your friends, remember to use sun protection.  It would also be wise to choose cosmetic treatments that prevent premature aging, so you stay healthy and look your best this summer and in the years to come. If you’re heading out for some fun in the sun, here are a few skin management tips and procedures that can keep you looking hot while you’re out in the hot sun.

First of all, if you’re not using medical grade skin products, you should be. Second, you should be using sunscreen everyday. Choosing the right sunscreen for your face – one that addresses your skin type and skin conditions – is not always easy.  For days spent mostly indoors, use a foundation with an SPF15 or higher. For outdoors you want at least an SPF45 that is waterproof or water-resistant. The right sunscreen can prevent sun damage, skin problems, and even skin cancer.  Harmful UV rays can damage skin cells deep within the skin’s surface, making your cells vulnerable to toxins (free-radicals) in the environment.

If you exhibit age spots, zap them away with a Fraxel laser or Chemical Peel. Rejuvenate your skin while reducing or removing age spots.

Professional Facials are another great way to remove dead skin cells from the skin’s surface, and they feel great! If you don’t need an intensive treatment but want to freshen up your look, a facial may be the right treatment choice.

Self conscious about unwanted facial or body hair? Laser hair removal can erase excess hair to keep your skin looking smooth and buff, reducing the need for shaving and waxing.

Let us help you maintain the health of your skin. Come visit us at Dr. Stacy Cosmetic to find out which treatment will work best for your skin type; then look forward to looking hot all summer long!

Solta Medical Opens New Fraxel and Thermage R&D Center

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Solta Medical, the new parent company of Thermage and Fraxel, has announced plans to open an ‘Aesthetic Center’ that will function as both a research and development hub and a physician training facility.  The activities within the center will focus on (and hopefully advance) all of the innovative AED technologies that have been merged under the Solta Medical name.

The Solta Medical Aesthetic Center will incorporate a biomedical engineering lab and an in-house clinic, both of which will allow physicians to take part in ongoing product research.  In the company press release, dermatologist Vic Narurkar MD says, this “will allow the company’s optics and biomedical engineers to share data and receive immediate clinical feedback about their work in new product development and existing product enhancement.”

The grand opening is scheduled to coincide with the 67th annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in San Francisco, which will bring together physicians and industry professionals for in-depth discussion on topics like laser skin resurfacing and skin tightening.

All of these new developments and collaborations in the field create an environment in which it is not unreasonable to expect some exciting new technological advancements in the cosmetic surgery and dermatology industry.

Fraxel Re:pair For Scar Revision

Monday, March 16th, 2009

An NBC news affiliate in Santa Rosa, California recently aired this brief segment on Dr. Steve Weiner and his use of Fraxel re:pair laser therapy.

Dr. Weiner, who conducted a year-long study on the laser, claims that his patients see “dramatic results in just days.”  He adds, [Fraxel re:pair] gives you a very natural result without the associated risks of surgery, there’s no general anesthesia, there’s no scars behind the ear and the recovery time is down to about 5 to 7 days.”

Fraxel Repair is intended to smooth out lines, wrinkles, scars and sun damage in one session that may require as little as 30 minutes.  For more information on Fraxel repair with Dr. Stacy, see our Fraxel Repair before and after photos or call us at 425-413-8864.

Thermage – Reliant Technologies Acquisition Finalized

Monday, January 19th, 2009

The acquisition of Mountain View, California based Reliant Technologies by Thermage Inc. was recently completed.  The deal was reportedly valued at approximately $66.2 million in stock and cash. Reliant has become a fixture in the cosmetic surgery market, largely because of the success of Fraxel, its brand of fractional laser technology treatment.

The acquisition required $23 million in stock shares, $25 million cash and must assume $7 million of Reliant’s debt.  Shares of Reliant stock have dropped since the deal was publicized in July.

With the effectiveness of Fraxel laser technology, Reliant has been a highly profitable company.  Fraxel treatments stimulate collagen growth and resurface skin by penetrating the outer dermis with ‘fractional’ microscopic laser columns.  The patient’s natural, bodily healing process then promotes skin rejuvenation and collagen growth.

Thermage is known for marketing a unique, non-invasive skin treatment that uses radiofrequency technology to heat and subsequently tighten skin.  The treatment is also said to improve superficial skin characteristics like texture and tone.

In Seattle, Dr. Stacy is one of the few cosmetic practices offering both Fraxel Repair and Thermage. Dr. Stacy has been a physician trainer for Thermage and provides highly effective combination treatments customized to each individual’s needs.

Reliant Technologies Completes New Web Site for Fraxel Laser

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Reliant Technologies Inc. recently debuted an impressive new website for Fraxel, the technology that we offer at Dr. Stacy Cosmetic for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation.

Fraxel.com now features an impressive flash-animation layout and displays recent clinical data, patient educational materials, videos/product demonstrations and for patients, an easier ability to compare each Fraxel systems’ intensity level and expected results.

According to Fraxel spokespersons, the intention is to educate patients and physicians on Fraxel and provide “credible information on what makes Fraxel the gold standard in skin rejuvenation.”

Fraxel CO2 Laser – total skin transformation in one treatment

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Dr. Stacy is the only physician in the South Sound to offer the Fraxel CO2 laser.

The original Fraxel laser (the Fraxel “Restore”) could do as much as the new Fraxel Repair, but to achieve results it often took 4-6 treatments. The Fraxel Repair is a one treatment procedure that can completely resolve skin tone issues, sun damage, and age spots – while also tightening the skin – which results in ten to fifteen years of age reversal.

Our results so far have been tremendous, and we’re happy to show you our before and after photos if you are interested in this new laser resurfacing treatment.
